A leading producer of copper and coal contracted with ISYS Technologies to assist in upgrading their Maintenance Management application to the next release. This highly customized application was moving from a VSAM to a DB2 environment. ISYS was specifically brought in to assist in identifying and documenting the data conversion efforts that were necessary. ISYS was also asked to manage the System Administration staff. Technology included in this project:
  • Mainframe to HPUX
  • EBCDIC to ANSII
  • Oracle Database Applications
  • Oracle Financials
After the migration was complete, ISYS led the effort to bring standard process and tools to establish a robust Configuration Management environment. Throughout our years working with this client, ISYS continually was willing to change both our staffing and our tasks assignments to assist in meeting the client's needs in a rapidly changing computing environment.

A Public School System chose ISYS to assist them in setting up a Program Management office during a Lawson payroll application upgrade. The client recognized that they did not have the expertise to effectively manage this project.

During the analysis of the clients' procedures, ISYS recognized that the IT department was lacking data to effectively measure the success of their support efforts and identify the impact of a major project on day-to-day operations. ISYS recommended a number of changes in the support operations, including establishment of a Change Control Board, install of Configuration Management software, and better use of HEAT to force all tier 1 support to be moved to the Help Desk. WIth ISYS' help, the client chose CM software, set up the appropriate support processes, and established a weekly Change Control meeting. These initiatives required a major cultural change effort among both the IT staff and the end user community.

ISYS led the Project Management office roll-out training client staff in PM techniques until they were able to assume the roll themselves. The long process of cultural change also began. After the engagement was over, ISYS was asked to return on a part-time basis to assist in finalizing the Change Control procedures. ISYS was happy to provide a few hours per week of consulting to help the client get past several issues that had stopped the processes from moving forward.

Once again ISYS demonstrated our flexibility to change our efforts to meet the needs of our clients and our commitment to their success.
